In eleven days, I'll be 28. I don't feel old, or even older (you're older than you've ever been, and now you're even older, and now you're even older...). Mostly, I feel that twenty-eight is a strange number that doesn't apply to me. Where did it come from? It just doesn't make any sense. There's no way I'm 28 (well, I'm not. Yet). It's silly.
I'm tempted to research birthday traditions from ancient history and around the world. It strikes me that I don't know how the ancient Greeks celebrated their birthdays - if at all - and that seems just wrong. I ought to know these things! ~points to classics degree~ I'll report my findings, if any one is interested.
