An idea

You know, I always feel funny participating in friending frenzies like the one [livejournal.com profile] shadesong had recently. It feels weird to me to glorify myself, advertising how terribly interesting I am. As for why people should read me, the best answer I can ever come up with for that is "people should read me if they'd like to do so." I think that what we ought to do instead is have sort of an inside-out friending frenzy. A recommend-a-fest! While I've seen the odd meme floating around wtih the premise of "tell me who I should read" I'd much rather make it more general, less specific. Don't tell me who I should be reading. Tell everyone all about the people you've connected with on LJ, the people who make this community thing really work. The idea of a post with hundreds of responses praising other folks (rather than people going on about their own personal coolness) just seems like a Good Thing (tm) to me.

Most of what I read is syndicated RSS feeds more than other individual users. [livejournal.com profile] cosmicmuffin is the only actually interesting person I read regularly, but check out [livejournal.com profile] preachermanfeed, [livejournal.com profile] velveteenrabbi, [livejournal.com profile] idlewords_rss, and [livejournal.com profile] salon_rosenberg.
