I'm feeling better emotionally today, though my head's been bugging me all day. Stupid sinuses. I finished The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah this morning (I'd finished the collection of fantasy and horror short stories on Tuesday). I was a little disappointed at how short this book felt - I wanted more more and more. I'm pleased that with the next book the journey will be over, though. It's always satisfying to finish a series, especially a good long one like this. I started reading Robin McKinley's Spindle's End in earnest this morning after finishing up the Stephen King stuff, and I'm enjoying it immensely so far. Nothing like a good old fashioned fairy tale (complete with actual and rather practical fairies) to make me smile.

I mentioned a while back contemplating a change in my journal, and I'm fast approaching a decision on that. I'm considering changing the main background for the page to this or this (both just color variations on the current background image) or perhaps the red or orange-ish versions of this. I'd like to come up with seasonal themes, actually, and switch myself to them with the turning of the year. With the background change I'd need to shift my color scheme away from the blues I've currently got, of course, and to something more autumnal. Not a problem. I'm also considering getting rid of or at the very least using fewer of my personal picture icons. Reviewing my icons yesterday I realized that most are ones I've made for myself (not a bad thing, really, especially considering that I don't think of myself as a graphics person in the slightest), and a really ridiculous number of them are of myself. Despite this clearly being The Cislyn Show (tm) (ha, whatever) I'm not actually that vain, and I'd like to shift away from showing my face all over the place quite so much. Mind you, I think all my icons are really nice pictures of me (otherwise I wouldn't have made them into icons - duh) but I think it makes me seem a bit too much of an exhibitionist, when I'm actually rather shy. So! Seeking out or creating more icons is on the agenda, too.

Just for fun:

I've got some Super Sekrit Projects in the works, but as they're in the works just yet, I'll continue to keep them (mostly) to myself. Once I get a little further along, I'll advertise more.

That's all for now...

Music to explore more of:
Heather Nova, Joydrop, Liz Phair, Bif Naked (yeah, I'm on kind of a girly kick lately)

Recently watched:
The DevilLady complete collection - I'll want to write up a review (or at laest a collection of thoughts) on the series sometime soon.

I got a pyramid collection catalogue in the mail recently, and I'm torn between being amused and irritated at the namby-pamby downright foolish new age-y descriptions of some items (what do I expect when the webpage description even says "new age, spiritual gifts, yoga, wicca, gothic, reiki, celtic, crystal, tarot"? yeesh... I wouldn't want to meet a wicca gothic reiki celtic crystal tarot in a dark alley) and downright materialistic lust for some of the goodies listed. What can I say? The idea of having a dragon mirror in the house or drinking tea from a fairy wing mug just appeals to me.
