Behold! Me!

~checks pulse~ Yep, I'm still alive. Just... quiet/busy/self absorbed in quite silly ways. I've been working - mostly mentally - on a revamp for my website. A lot of content needs tweaking, and I'd like to make it generally prettier and spiffier. Unfortunately, this requires some small skill with graphics. I have no such skill. So I'm in kind of a quandry with that, dithering over just leaving it or endeavoring to do something I know I really don't have the talent for.

Random: I saw two tiny baby birds today dead on the sidewalk by the mail room. They were eensy and their skin still looked translucent. They must have fallen from one of the tall pines. :(

Our car is at the body shop this week. The rental they gave us is super spiffy and has power windows and locks and a cd player and things. I feel like such an old fogey. None of my cars have ever had power anything and I'm kind of inherently suspicious of it all. When I push the "lock doors" button on the remote (my car has a remote - just wrong!) I always pull the handle just to convince myself that it really truly is locked. Also, I'm insanely paranoid about the CD player being stolen. It's probably a good thing our solid, reliable little corolla isn't fancy shmancy, though I do occassionally day dream about widgets and gadgets and things that go beep (other than the horn).

Random, again: I bought a box of kleenex at the grocery store just because it had pretty stars and moons on it. Yeesh, I'm such an impulse buyer. Oh, and also because I suspect I am getting sick. Rar.

Early this morning I proved myself Home Improvement Bitch and went to Lowe's and bought a new tank lever for our toilet. I must have seen fifteen employees during my five minute walk through the aisles, and every single one of them said "good morning, miss" and wished me a good day in some fashion. I forget how incredibly friendly the retail world is, now that I'm not working in it and I so seldom go shopping. It's nice in a kind of fake insincere sort of way. I'll take the well wishes one way or another, of course.

I've been playing Final Fantasy 7 with Todd - we're only on disc 2 and this game knocks me over with its gigantic plot. I'm impressed. And having fun. These playstation games are fun for me - in "real" roleplaying, I frown seriously on folks who live to get the most loot, who try desperately to be the most high powered tough bad-ass in the world. With the final fantasy games, I get to be that bastard, for a change. Ahhhh, sweet sweet treasure. Gimme the goodies! Woohoo!

Still more random: In another moment of impulse buying extraordinaire (that's an awful lot of vowels isn't it?) I bought a cheap little blender last week. Mmmmm smoothies. So far I have discovered the joy that is iced chai (oh yes, oh yes, oh yes) and strawberry banana smoothies. Any recipes thrown my way will be ducked with extreme grace, examined for worthiness, and tried regardless. ~grins~

There's more to say, but it's not getting said right now. Right now I'm going to eat. Yep.
