Anacrusis - fiction for the attention-deprived. There's an LJ feed of this site, actually, which is pretty neat. It's basically a writing exercise (done really well, from those I've read) to write short (VERY short) stories in exactly 101 words. Neat!

Thought I had something more to say, but I'm feeling a tad terse. Just for good measure... hrmm... ~rummages through random links~...
Here's a page on alliteration.

tempted

I'm not really sure why, but I'm very tempted to spend money on something highly frivolous... an online non-credited archaeology class. Two of them, actually. Click here and you too could be tempted.

It's $60, a piece. But... and it's not exactly "worth" anything - wouldn't "count towards" anything if I went back to school for real or anything. But... ... ... it sounds neat. And I feel like I've been learning perhaps practical things lately but not things I'm interested in. This I'm interested in. I focused primarily on language for my degree - Latin and Greek, mostly Greek even. And I loved it. I love langauge and languages. I always wished I'd started classics earlier and had time for more hard-core archaeology courses, though. And Egyptology. Because ancient Egypt is fascinating to me. Moreso than ancient Greece and Rome. Hell, the older the civilization is, the more interesting it is to me, really. If they'd been offering courses on ancient Sumeria when I was able to take them I would have been all over it.

We have the money. I could do this. But it wouldn't be spending money wisely. It doesn't "count". But dammit... it sounds neat. ~sighs~ I'll talk to Todd about it. It's his money, too.

Todd's response regarding the web course things: go for it.

I've written to the guy. Now I wait and see.

  • I am married
  • I am 27 1/2 years old, as of 7/9/04

  • I live in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
  • As of 7/9/04 we have lived in Raleigh, basically in the same spot, for nearly four years.

  • Todd and I have discussed moving (out of the apartment, out of the city, out of the state, out of the country...) many times. So far, we're still here.
  • I like to write, and would like to consider myself a writer
  • Like so many people, I have Issues (tm)
  • I like parentheses
  • I wear glasses
  • My actual factual name is Cislyn. Pronounced Siss-linn. Two syllables.
  • I read voraciously
  • I collect lots of things
  • I am quite proud of being dorky, geeky, silly, goofy and all around nerdy, too.
  • I am also proud of being *very* responsible, and tend to expect the same from others.
  • I like chai
  • We eat out. A lot. Far too often, really.
  • I don't like to cook (this goes partially towards justifying the above)
  • I play a lot of computer games
  • I broke my ankle in 1999
  • I work. When and where and how hard and how often varies.
  • I am politically progressive. Some people term this as "rabidly liberal". To those people I say: "yeah, baby, let me foam at the mouth for you!" Heh.
  • I am religiously agnostic. This does not mean I am open to conversion.
  • I am a logical thinker and a skeptic.
  • I like cartoons
  • My favorite genres of books are fantasy and sci/fi. And yeah, in my mind they are indeed two different genres. Go figure.

the not-so obvious )

I was thinking of adding more, but I think I'll save the "really not at all obvious unless you know me very well" stuff for a friend's only post. Later. I'm not sure what inspired this...but here it is. I'm sure I'm missing all sorts of semi-obvious and not-so-obvious stuff. Still. There's me. In a nutshell. Help, help, I'm stuck in this nutshell.
