I'm feeling better today. Maybe there's something to this 'taking it easy'. That, or it's the drugs. Yay pharmacological solutions.

My excitement for NaNo is mounting pretty steadily. I keep getting more little ideas to work in, and I'm having fun playing with the background of the two characters I like the best. Still need to name 'em. I tried to name one of them, but it didn't stick, so I'm tempted to save up that name for someone else. We'll see.

It is full-on gorgeous today. If it doesn't rain, maybe I'll go watch the meteor shower tonight. I missed the Perseids this year, so I've got to get in my quota of shooting stars.

I find that I'm actually hungry, so I think I'll go stare into the fridge meaningfully for a while. Maybe dinner inspiration will hit me over the head while I'm down there.

Books read, semi recently:

  • The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley
  • Doomsday Book by Connie Willis
  • Riddley Walker by Russel Hoban
  • The Black Swan By Nicholas Nassim Taleb
  • World War Z by Max Brooks
  • Just after sunset by Stephen King

There are a few more, I'm sure, but those are the ones literally within sight.

On the pile to read:

  • Bridge of Birds by Barry Hughart
  • The Road by Cormac McCarthy
  • The City of Dreaming Books by Walter Moers

Again, that's just what's visible in the room right now. Did I mention that I started a book club? I totally did. I named it Afterwords, because we have dinner together once a month at the host's house, and then discuss the book. Two of the books up there (The Black Swan and World War Z) are book club books. We also read The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde, Foundation by Asimov, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick, Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!, and um... I think that's it. I could go get the book club journal and check, but I'm feeling lazy.

edit: And The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. Yes, that's the one.
further edit: Also A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
